Inclusive Soccer for Players With Disabilities

AYSO has rebranded its VIP Program to EPIC, which stands for Everyone Plays In our Community. Details of the AYSO rebranding and program here. The mission of the AYSO EPIC Program is to provide players with disabilities the additional support they need to fully participate in a quality soccer experience. The ultimate goal of the AYSO EPIC Program is to provide a holistic AYSO experience for players, families, and volunteers, from team uniforms, to playing on a team, to cheering from the sidelines, for all participants.

AYSO invites kids from all around the Bay Area to participate in this inclusive program for kids with challenges in areas such as:
1) Cognitive or Development
2) Vision
3) Sensory
4) Deafness or Hard of Hearing
5) Speech or Communication
6) Mobility

The 10 week program runs in Fall and Spring each year on Sunday afternoons.
- Players play on teams
- A volunteer buddy plays with/next to each player.

EPIC Volunteer Signup

Fall 2024 - Spring 2025 EPIC Volunteers

This is where you signup to volunteer for the South Bay EPIC AYSO Soccer Program as an EPIC Buddy or EPIC Coach. Note that the AYSO EPIC program was formerly known as the AYSO VIP program, but has been re-branded as described here.

The first step is to signup as an EPIC Coach or Buddy by following the prompts.

Once you have signed up, both EPIC Coaches and EPIC Buddies should take the following common courses:

Fingerprinting
Risk Status (aka Background Check)
Safe Haven

In addition to the common courses above, EPIC Buddies should also take the following courses in AYSOU:

EPIC Buddy Training - Online Course

EPIC Coaches should take the common courses plus the following courses in AYSOU:

SafeSport
Sudden Cardiac Arrest
Concussion Awareness
EPIC Volunteer Training - Online Course
At a minimum, the 6U Coach Course (online), but ideally the 10U Coach Course (Half online and half in-person field session)
