Canopies

Canopies

AYSO Area 2J has a set of six AYSO Canopies for use at tournaments and special AYSO events.
Please use these canopies with tender loving care so we get many years of good use out of them. They were a significant investment for our Area. Using the right techniques they are easy to set up and take down.

We have a set of pictures showing the setup process.

Impact Canopy has instructions that can be printed out as well as set-up and take-down videos.
Tips:
  1. When pulling the roller bag, use the handle that is at the very end of the bag opposite the wheels. This handle is partly underneath the end. Using this handle maximizes your leverage to keep the pulling weight at a minimum and will not tear the bag. The handles on top of the bag are for lifting the entire assembly and tend to tear if used when pulling the bag. Also when using these handles you will be carrying more of the load and transferring less of it to the wheels.
  2. If they get wet, make sure they dry completely before packing them up and storing them. If they get dusty, brush/blow them off.
  3. Do not use undue force (most actions take very little effort). The only action that may take a bit of force is snapping the corners up on each leg as the canopy is being stretched at this point. Hold the leg in one hand and push up on the corner slider with the other (easiest to push with your palm on a strut adjacent to the corner -- see the pictures we've posted).
  4. After packing, make sure that the middle strap is wrapped around them and secured (it will rip the storage bag if not secured but then used to lift the canopy).
  5. Make sure you put the stake and tie downs in the stake bag and place the stake bag in the inner velcro'ed pocket that is inside and at the top of the long outer pocket. The outer pocket is meant to hold side walls..
  6. When using the tie downs, learn to tie half hitches. Two half hitches in a row are very secure yet easy to untie. Two half hitches can be slid up and down to tension the line or you can use a taut-line hitch which is a slightly more advanced version of 2 half hitches. Half hitches are very simple and the single most useful knot you should know how to tie.
  7. In general be as gentle as possible with the canopies.

Thanks for being careful with our canopies so that we get many years of service out of them!
